A federal judge in New York struck down the Trump administration's ban on immigrant visas for citizens of 75 countries, ruling Friday that the policy illegally discriminated based on nationality. The State Department had halted visas for people from Afghanistan, Brazil, Yemen and dozens of other nations on the theory they were likely to need public assistance, but Judge Jeannette Vargas called it "not a challenging case" under the Immigration and Nationality Act's anti-discrimination provisions.
