Tuesday ended with Washington striking Iran again after Hormuz tanker attacks, spillover fire aimed at Kuwait and Bahrain, and oil jumping on fears the fragile truce is unraveling—while chip stocks slid on Samsung’s AI letdown, DeepSeek plotted custom silicon, and Marine Le Pen vowed to run for president anyway.
Reuters reporting cited in Semafor says DeepSeek is developing its own AI chip, a step that could give China’s breakout model maker more control over training and inference hardware and intensify competition with U.S. GPU leaders.
Three counts of attempted murder against Dharmesh A. Patel were dismissed after he completed a court-ordered mental health program, prosecutors said Tuesday, closing the criminal chapter of the 2023 Devils Slide plunge that killed his wife and seriously injured two children.
A high-rise conversion site on East 42nd Street near Grand Central was deemed unstable after two support columns buckled and floors sagged; FDNY evacuated the building and neighbors while contractors began emergency shoring expected to last days.
ABC told the FCC in new filings that regulators are reviving a settled question about whether “The View” is a bona fide news show exempt from equal-time rules, accusing the Trump administration of trying to chill speech on the long-running daytime program.
U.S. Central Command said Tuesday it finished strikes on multiple Iranian targets after tankers were hit in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating pressure on the fragile U.S.-Iran truce and drawing fresh Gulf security alerts.
Kuwait said Wednesday its air defenses were engaging incoming fire and Bahrain reported incoming missiles after the latest U.S. airstrikes on Iran, with no immediate word on damage in either country.
After an appeals court upheld her EU funds embezzlement conviction but shortened her ban from office, Le Pen told TF1 she is a 2027 presidential candidate and will appeal to the court of cassation—potentially delaying the ankle monitor that had threatened her campaign schedule.
U.S. authorities charged imprisoned gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi and associate Satinderjeet Singh with orchestrating the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a British Columbia temple, reopening a case that already poisoned Canada-India relations.
Despite record preliminary second-quarter profit at Samsung, investors sold broader chip names when the print failed to meet sky-high AI expectations, dragging the sector and sharpening debate over who benefits from the capex boom.
Crude benchmarks rose after the latest U.S. strikes on Iran, as traders weighed renewed Hormuz risk against inventories and the possibility that the short-lived ceasefire framework could break down.
Analysts told CNBC that China’s unusual Pacific-range missile test will accelerate security coordination among U.S. allies already nervous about Beijing’s force posture and regional basing moves.
Streaming and broadcast giants are circling FIFA’s next U.S. World Cup rights cycle, with CNBC reporting a package that could approach two billion dollars as the tournament’s American footprint grows.
Rivian shares plunged after the EV maker priced a seventy-five-million-share offering to shore up its balance sheet, diluting holders as the company pushes toward its next vehicle programs.
The Supreme Court declined to block Texas’s App Store Accountability Act while litigation continues, letting the state enforce age-verification rules app stores and student advocates argue violate the First Amendment.

the way the anthropic team talked the impact of their slack bot was very similar to our own experiences so i assumed the products would be very similar
but they're pretty different! one thing they push on is wherever you'd normally implement a "when X happens do Y" feature they instead rely on the LLM
LLM has the ability to do Y and it decides when to invoke it. core product stays thin
i think the end result is pretty different and i prefer ours (for now) but it is interesting
I released sqlite-utils 4.0, the 124th release but the first major version bump since 3.0 back in 2020
I managed to keep things backwards-compatible all the way up to version 3.39 before the accumulated design mistakes forced me to bump that number! https://t.co/qQ83UiBOvv
